Jorge Retamoza

Saxo Tenor

Jorge Retamoza is one of the pioneers in introducing tango saxophone in addition to being who is developing for many years a work on this instrument in this music. His personal style can be heard on recorded discs with his group and more than one dozen partnerships

For almost twenty years Retamoza develops his original compositions in a musical body based on tango, jazz gestures and academic procedures that put his writing and / or interpret the music of Buenos Aires in an area of ​​originality and find new ways to understand the tradition and its future.
Leading his group's original compositions which are central to the aesthetic, it has toured Argentina, South America, Europe and sponsored by the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Argentina, by the US. This project performs regularly in theaters, festivals, cultural centers and universities, as well as providing public lectures and educational fields deprived of America and Europe.
He is the author of "Tango from the Saxo"edited by Melos Book. Music, where
It includes a series of practical work, studies, examples, transcriptions
develop a sound and a way to practice for interpreting the music of Buenos Aires from the sax.
In ongoing activity also it acts as guest soloist in one of the
Argentine major symphonic organizations. In this academic he has also
premiered various works: "Concerto for Tenor Sax Bandoneon and Orchestra", "Three Porteñas scenes "(for two bass clarinets and Symphonic Band)," In Black and White Buenos Aires "(for bandoneon soloist and Six Drummers)
He has also composed music for TV and radio, for exhibitions and installations in galleries and museums as well as music for film animation, in collaboration with artist Pablo Delfini, obtained several awards national and international (National Endowment for the Arts Award of Argentina 2009, Best Music Award at the Festival of Poetic Films New York 2008) shares in major world festivals in this genre.

He founded the saxophone quartet quartet Undersax sponsored by the company RICO INTERNATIONALcon which recorded one CD, Paroxysm (Arg Bacsound Exhausted Edition 1977), which included several of his own tango arrangements for saxophone quartet.
In 1998 obtained by contest the position of baritone sax for the Symphonic Band of the City of Buenos Aires.
He was part of various jazz groups playing with leading musicians in the genre of country: Diego Urcola, Juan Cruz de Urquiza, Jorge Navarro,
Pierre Hugo, Guillermo Romero, Daniel Piazzolla, etc.

It has been professionally
part of music for films and advertising films, also in orchestras and other musical groups sharing the stage with
artists like Raul Lavie, Walter Rios, Guillermo Fernandez, Victor Pellegrini, Caesar Pueyrredón, Los Tarantos, etc recordings and international tours made to Isabel Pantoja, Sandro and Celia Cruz as a member of their stand out
groups or orchestras.

Julián Graciano

Julián Graciano, learn music from the family roots, harpist great-grandfather, grandfather and his guitarist father of tango bandoneon, where it performs its core upbringing in a musical environment.
In parallel to their schooling, incorporates its first formal hand knowledge of Professor Carlos Esteban, who guides on Solfege and Music theory.
Gets the scholarship BEST (Berklee Entering Student Talented) at age 19 and MEFA (Massachusetts Educational Financial Authority) grant.
Through these achievements pursuing higher studies at Berklee College of Music, Boston USA where he receives knowledge of harmony and improvisation with Gary Burton, Chucho Valdez and Bob Mintzer; jazz guitar with John Scofield, Mike Stern, Pat Martino and latin jazz with Carlos Moreno (Irakere); polyrhythms and rhythmic concepts with Horacio "The black" Hernandez and Steve Smith; Jim Reyes composition and Alf Clausen.
He has taught at the Conservatory Argentino Galván and Superior Tango Lyceum of both institutions under the National Academy of Tango.
Author of "Real Tango Book"and Tango Guitar Method unpublished.
He has written several articles on jazz improvisation for the magazine VIVA LA MUSIC AMR Switzerland.
As a writer and arranger of tango from solo instruments to tango orchestras, it has been requested by several groups and soloists from different countries such as Turkey, USA, England, Germany, Spain and Sweden.
As a session has been called to join the jazz band Harry Waters (son of legendary rock musician Roger Waters).
In the field of research, it was required by Mrs. Mabel Rodriguez Rovira for the ordering and subsequent catalog of work of Maestro Eduardo Rovira.
For almost 20 years he works as a teacher in particular guitar majoring in jazz and tango, traditional and contemporary harmony, counterpoint, composition techniques, arrangements and orchestration, ear training and improvisation.
